Sustainable Social Good

Sustainable Social Good ❊

Lasting change begins at home.

At Amani, we believe child welfare must be rooted in family and built for the future.

In Tanzania, it’s often poverty—not the absence of living or loving relatives—that leads to children being placed in orphanages.

But what if we could change that?

What if children aging out of residential care returned home but still thrived in school?

What if children never entered orphanages in the first place?

What if families had the support they needed to stay together?

We’re making that vision a reality.

Amani believes in resilient families, thriving communities, and a future where no child becomes an “orphan” because they were born into poverty.

Our mission is to keep children within safe, loving families by providing community-driven, sustainable alternatives to institutional care through psychosocial support, education access, and resilient livelihoods.

We partner with families, communities and care institutions to create sustainable, community-based alternatives to orphanages.

This is sustainable social good—care that reaches beyond the gate of an institution, led by local expertise and strengthened by collective support.

Our Initiatives

Focus On

  • We reunify child in orphanages with relatives and identify children at risk of entry into the system. We stabilize these families by supporting emotional well-being, mental health, and strong caregiver-child relationships.

  • We strengthen children’s futures by removing barriers to consistent, dignified education.

  • We sustain families to by supporting climate-resilient livelihoods that build long-term household stability.
